jtex-binがきれいに入らないので、もう少し調べてみました。
どうも、/usr/sbin/jtexconfigでinijtex jtex.iniしてるところで
エラーになってるみたいです。
ためしに、コマンドラインから実行してみたところ、こうなります。
% inijtex /usr/lib/texmf/tex/jtexini/jtex.ini
! You have to increase POOLSIZE.
何が影響してるのでしょう?

ii tetex-dev 0.9-7 kpathsea.a and include files for teTeX
