Objective Caml (OCaml) is an implementation of the ML language, based on
the Caml Light dialect extended with a complete class-based object system
and a powerful module system in the style of Standard ML.

OCaml comprises two compilers. One generates bytecode
which is then interpreted by a C program. This compiler runs quickly,
generates compact code with moderate memory requirements, and is
portable to essentially any 32 or 64 bit Unix platform. Performance of
generated programs is quite good for a bytecoded implementation:
almost twice as fast as Caml Light 0.7. This compiler can be used
either as a standalone, batch-oriented compiler that produces
standalone programs, or as an interactive, toplevel-based system.

The other compiler generates high-performance native code for a number
of processors. Compilation takes longer and generates bigger code, but
the generated programs deliver excellent performance, while retaining
the moderate memory requirements of the bytecode compiler. It is not
available on all arches though.

This package contains everything needed to develop OCaml applications,
including the graphics libraries.

しか必要としないコンパクトなコードを生成します。そのコードは本質的に 32bit
 および 64bit の Unix プラットホームで互換性があります。生成されたプログラ
ムの実行効率はバイトコード実装としては大変良く、Caml Light 0.7 の 2 倍ぐら
いです。このコンパイラは、独立した実行プログラムを生成する単独のバッチ処理
に向いたコンパイラとしても、またトップレベルシステムから対話的にも利用でき

もうひとつのコンパイラは数多くの種類のプロセッサ向けの高実行効率なネ

同程度の適度な量のメモリしか必要としない状況を保ちながら、すばらしい実

「standalone」個人的には「スタンドアロン」がよいと思います。

「batch-oriented」は「バッチ (処理) 向きの」が適切ではないでしょうか。
※カッコ内は意味を補足するために追加した言葉です。

「as an interactive, toplevel-based
system」は「トップレベルシステムで対話的にも利用できます」の方がわかりやすい表現にならないでしょうか?

スペースの追加とさらに修正 by yy_y_ja_jp

実際の動作を考慮してより明確な表現に修正しました - トップレベルシステムはコンパイラそのものではない by khibino

8行目の先頭に余分な(副作用のある)半角スペースがあったので、削除しました。
それ以外は問題ないようですので、レビューをお願いします。--tyamada


↑の通りで、一点の問題だけのため修正処理をしました。
