自己解決しました。

OpenSSH

   Linkname: OpenSSH

から検索しました所、

   Linkname: MARC: msg 'Re: Connection closed by remote host...'

というのを見付けました。

そんな馬鹿な、 /etc/inetd.conf には sshd の記載は一切ない筈なの
に…と思いつつ、 /etc/hosts.allow に "sshd: ALL" を追加して、
/etc/init.d/ssh restart した所、見事に繋がりました。

改めて man sshd すると、

/etc/hosts.allow, /etc/hosts.deny
    If compiled with LIBWRAP support, tcp-wrappers access controls
    may be defined here as described in hosts_access(5).

という記載がありました。…そうか、参照するんぢゃなぁ…(__;)

という訳で、お騒がせしました。(__)
