これは、具体的にシェルから実行する方法をおしえていただけ
ませんか？

Now while I am typing the JPN front-end, it started to 
be malfuanctioning and now seems complete dead.
... unstable or ... I got no clue.

Pls advise on the detailed procedure on 
 'update-alternative' wheather it should be done
  in shell prompt or via-GUI .
