stretch からパッケージを借りてくるために

としたのを元に戻すのをわすれたまま この状態で $ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y をやってしまい、ちょうどカーネルアップデートが提供されていた時期でしたので、 stretch に dist-upgrade してしまったようです。 再起動してログインすると、stretch のものと思われる背景は出るのですが デスクトップのファイル群が表示されず、 画面の上下の mate-panel も見当たりません。
http://yaplog.jp/nekoashi_1/archive/178 を参考にして Ctrl＋Alt＋F1キーでデスクトップからコンソール画面に切り替え 「DISPLAY=:0.0 mate-terminal」と入力しEnter。 Alt+F7を押して、デスクトップ画面に切り替えする すると何とか mate-terminal だけは表示されています。
画面の上下の mate-panel を両方とも表示させることさえできれば、 後は何とか使っていけると思います。

こんな状態です。 どのようにすれば mate-panel （と、できればデスクトップのファイル群）を復活できるでしょうか？ jessie に戻したいとは特には思っておりません。 どうぞよろしくお願いします。
