さて、どうしましょう。
gs-cjk の問題点としては
* 遅い？ (わらしは気にならないけど)
* 設定がややこい？(defoma 勝手にやってくれるけど)
* msmincho/msgothic のカタカナがきれいに表示されない？
(gs7 で解決？ curveto が lineto でモゲとか？ そもそも
msmincho/msgothic 使っちゃいけませんよ？)
* rearrangefont が未実装で Tgif3 のはく .eps はダメとか？
(もう Tgif4 に移行ギミだけど？ 他にもあるかな？)
rearrangefont が大問題なのでしょう。

まず Debian に install されている gs ですが、
* vflib patch は外す
* gs5.5 も GPL なので、それベースにパケジングしてもらって、
CID を扱えるようであればそれでGo?
* 4月に gs7 がリリースされるので、その後 gs6 が GPL になるのを待って、
gs-cjk をマージしてもらう。
* Torsten の作業を増やすことにもなるし、Debian Kr の人(Changwoo)も
Japanizing patch を快く思っていないようだし、gs-cjk 以外の日本語
サポートパッチをマージしてもらうことはしない。
* 日本語プリンタドライバは今まで通り。
私はこのようなポリシーでいいのでは、と思っています。
んで、「必要としている日本人の便宜を図るため」に gs-ja(= gs + vflib) を
Debian JP に置いておけばいいかも、私は嫌なのだけどなぁ、と思っていたのですが、
例のライセンス問題が浮上しているので、そういう訳にも行きません。
私は vflib パッチ ステ派です。
gs + vflib を必要としている人の意見をお待ちしています。
freetype と link しない vflib2 を作ってみる？
