OK. Please see:

hamm - http://www.debian.or.jp/Packages/unstable/editors/
On this URL, We guide for Debian-JP project's editors. (Include jvim)

Please use Debian-JP package. And you can setup Japanese environment.
All our package can get under

If you want to edit Japanese, you need fonts, editor, and japanese input
method.

1.Font: X11's misc font like -- You can install debian package.

jiskan24.pcf.gz -jis-fixed-medium-r-normal--24-230-75-75-c-240-jisx0208.1983-0
hanglm24.pcf.gz -daewoo-mincho-medium-r-normal--24-170-100-100-c-240-ksc5601.198
7-0
jiskan16.pcf.gz -jis-fixed-medium-r-normal--16-150-75-75-c-160-jisx0208.1983-0
cursor.pcf.gz cursor
k14.pcf.gz -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--14-130-75-75-c-140-jisx0208.1983-0

2.editor: I think emacs-20.2 or XEmacs (after 20.3) is good for processing
          Japanese on X11.
          Emacs/XEmacs now support Japanese.

Vi like editor -- "jvim" and "nvi" are able to process Japanese.
If you use vi, use "kterm". kterm is a X terminal like "xterm".

3. Japanese input method: SKK, canna, Wnn, sj3 are well known Japanese
                          input method.

If you use Emacs/XEmacs, "SKK" is easy to install.
	  (XEmacs-20.3 or later include SKK)
	  http://skk.kuis.kyoto-u.ac.jp/skk/index-e.html

Other method is client--server system. You must setup C/S.

Enjoy!
