と言われます。

% cd /usr/share/emacs/20.2/lisp/mail/
% ls -l sendmail.el*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  49105 Jan  8 1998 sendmail.el
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  28625 Sep 14 1997 sendmail.elc

となっています。

# 手動で byte-compile すれば、特に問題ありません。
