　この設定とウェブ・ページを読みました。
　それから Windows 98 のネットワークで、優先的にログインするネットワーク
の所に Windows デスクトップを指定してあったのですが、これを Microsoft
Network に変更しました。
　そして、ネットワークのログインのダイアログで、power に存在するアカウン
ト名でログインしたら、ネットワーク・ドライブの割り当てができました。

　どうもありがとうございました。

　現在の /etc/smb.conf です（実際に Windows のエクスプローラから Debian 
の /etc/smb.conf を秀丸で開いてコピー＆ペーストしたものです）。
　man や JF の SAMBA-HOWTO.euc も見ながら書いたのですが、まだよくわかって
いません。
　外のネットにつながっていないので、どうでもいいといえばいいのですが、セ
キュリティ的に問題はありますでしょうか。
　そのようなことは、何を読めば勉強できますでしょうか。
