Windowsに限らないと思いますが、sizeには制限があると思います。
# 恐らく、実装によると思いますけど。
ちなみに、WindowsNT4.0では、8192が最大サイズと明記されています。

試しに、WindowsNTマシンで size 9192 でやってみたら、
同じように、Request timed out になりました。
