私も sources.list の書き方がいまひとつわかっていないのですが……

> deb ftp://ftp.jp.debian.org/debian stable main

man sources.list を見ると

    deb uri distribution [component1] [componenent2] [...]

と書いてあり、上記のような一般的な形式の場合はなんとなく
理解できるのですが、過去にこのＭＬで見た例だと

deb http://ring.omp.ad.jp/pub/linux/debian/debian-jp dists/proposed-updates-jp/
deb http://ring.omp.ad.jp/pub/linux/debian/debian-jp dists/slink-jp-proposed-updates/

とか

 deb http://master.debian.org/~kitame/mule ./

と言う形式で書かれていることがあります。

こういう場合はどう解釈すればいいのでしょうか？
サーバ上にどのように置かれていて、その構成から
どのように deb xxxx を記述すればいいのでしょうか？
# と言ったことはどこかに解説ありますか？
