   Many of the Debian autobuilders are severely overloaded. Debian has
   [4]one machine that does m68k autobuilds, and the poor thing has to
   try to keep up with the constant churn of unstable. It is [5]400+
   packages behind now, and has not updated any packages uploaded to
   non-US since [6]January 10th. Arm is even further behind, and sparc
   is way behind as well. The situation is worse with respect to
   non-free: most autobuilders [7]do not build non-free packages at all,
   leaving maintainers of non-free with the difficult chore of manually
   trying to build it [8]on all architectures if they want updates to
   get into testing. M68k machines are not going to get any faster as the
   years go by, so we need to find more m68k machines to use as
   autobuilders lest the port slip dangerously behind.

  多くの Debian オートビルダ (移植版パッケージの自動ビルドシステム) は
  厳しい過負荷のもとにあります。Debian には m68k 用のオートビルダが
  1 台 [4] ありますが、このシステムは (かわいそうに) unstable に
  流れ込む大量のパッケージになんとか追いつこうと懸命に努力しています。
  現在のところ他の移植版に比べて 400 以上のパッケージ [5] について
  遅れを取っており、1 月 10 日以降 [6] non-US へアップロードされた
  パッケージはひとつも無い状態です。Arm はさらに遅れており、sparc も
  m68k 同様に遅れています。non-free なパッケージの場合、状況はさらに
  悪くなっています。ほとんどのオートビルダは [7] non-free なパッケージを
  相手にしていません。non-free パッケージのメンテナーは、新しいパッケージ
  を testing にインストールしてもらうために、自分の手で [8] すべての
  アーキテクチャについてパッケージをビルドしなければなりません。
  M68k な機械はもう何年も処理速度が向上していないため、これ以上移植版の
  遅れが拡大しないよう、Debian はオートビルダとして使える m68k な機械を
  もっとたくさん必要としています。

という状況が最近 (testing の導入以降) 顕著になってきています。

そこで、お願いがあるのですが、もしどこかでパッケージのオートビルダに
使えそうな m68k の機械を見かけたら、Debian Project に寄付してもらえないか
聞いてみてもらえませんか ?

 (arm や powerpc も i386 や alpha に比較すると遅れているそうなので
  もし協力してもらえる人がいれば、そちら方面でも歓迎します
  i386 は持っている人も多いし、サーバーで chroot 環境が使えるものも
  あるのであまりこうした問題は発生しませんし、alpha も今のところ
  non-free も含めて精力的に build してくれる人がいるのでかなり
  間にあっています。最大の問題は CPU 速度の遅い m68k です)

最近 woody/testing になかなか新しいパッケージが入らないことで
いくつか問題が起きていますが、その原因のひとつにこの「移植版用
オートビルダの過負荷」や「パッケージ生成に使える各アーキテクチャの
機械」が不足していることも挙げられます。

 (また、security update のお知らせなどについても、m68k での
  パッケージ生成が遅いためにアナウンスが 2 度に分かれて行なわれたり
  他の移植版のパッケージが用意できても m68k のパッケージ生成に時間が
  かかるためにアナウンスを出すタイミングが遅れたりしています。)

なかなかそう都合良くはいかないだろうと思いますが、もしできれば、
皆様の御協力をお願いします。
