ホスト thinkpad のログインスクリプト(*1)で stty が実行されるように
書かれていませんか? 

もし stty の実行が不要ならば stty を含む行を削除してみてください。
もし stty の実行が必要ならば tty -s && stty という風に書き換えてみてください。

*1:
/etc/profile, /etc/zprofile, /etc/bash.bashrc,
~/.profile, ~/.bash_profile, ~/.zprofile, ~/.login
~/.bashrc, ~/.zshrc, etc...
