「Windowsを用いてCD-Rに記録するにはどうやればいいのでしょうか?」
を参考に、「debian-40r6-i386-CD-1」(Easy CD Createrイメージファイル)を
CDに焼きなおし、しました。

このCDをドライブに入れるとインストーラが起動して、
「installgui」でインストール作業を進めることができました。

「Debian GNU/Linux クイックインストール解説」
http://www.debian.or.jp/using/quick-etch/
によると、
「ソフトウェアの選択とインストール」の
「12　途中でX ウィンドウシステムの設定として、利用したい解像度が
　　　尋ねられます」
とありますが、X の設定はありませんでした。

インストールが完了して、再起動すると、
「X が正しくセットアップされていない」というエラーメッセージが出ました。
現在は、テキストログインしています。
X Windowの設定はどうやればいいのでしょうか。

The X server is now disabled, Restart GDM 
when it is configured correctly.
