grub苦労人おつかれさまです。
一足先にUEFIにgrubをインストールできてハマりからは卒業できました。

grub-install で自分は上手く行ったためしがないので、
ブートを壊したときは、rescue modeの中で
dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc と update-grub を実行して直していました。
