<p><strong>新しい種類の GNU/Linux ディストリビューション</strong>?
LinuxWorld は、新しい種類の「コンポーネント指向のディストリビューション」を
提案している、Ian Murdock さんの<a
href="http://platform.progeny.com/weblogs/000005.html";>ウェブログ討論</a>を<a
href="http://www.linuxworld.com/story/43857.htm";>報告しました</a>。Progeny
は、ユーザが必要とする機能や技術のみを取り入れて、プラットフォームを
ボトムアップで作成できるよう、そのようなディストリビューションを構築している、
と彼は説明しました。Progeny の <a
href="http://platform.progeny.com/componentized-linux/";>コンポーネント指向の
Linux</a> は、コミュニティプロジェクトとしてオープンに構築されていて、
現在のところ、各コンポーネントは Debian sarge のものをベースにしています。LSB 1.3
認定の<a
href="http://platform.progeny.com/componentized-linux/releases/status-2004-01-22.html";>\
コアランタイム</a>が利用可能となっており、ここ数週間のうちに、より多くの
コンポーネントやコンポーネント認識、<a

<p><strong>RAID 上の LVM をルートにした Debian</strong>。
Charles Steinkuehler さんは、Massimiliano Ferrero さんの <a
href="http://www.midhgard.it/docs/index_en.html";>HOWTO</a> を使って、
どのようにして RAID 上の LVM をルートにした Debian を起動させたかを<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-user-0402/msg05104.html";>説明しました</a>。
彼は、LVM のサポート (RAID は既にサポートされています) に提供されている
フックを使うことで、RAID 上の LVM をルートにできるよう <code>mkinitrd</code>
スクリプトを変更しました。これにより、Debian のアーカイブからカーネルの新版を
インストールするのに <code>apt-get</code> が使えるようになります。Charles
は、i386 アーキテクチャ用に使った設定について詳しく述べました。この設定は、
同じく Debian ラムディスク初期化スクリプトを使っている他のアーキテクチャでも
動くはずです。</p>
<p><strong>新たなマルチアーキテクチャへの提案</strong>。
Tollef Fog Heen さんは、AMD64 アーキテクチャのサポートを目的とした、
新たなマルチアーキテクチャへの<a
href="http://raw.no/debian/amd64-multiarch-2";>提案</a>について<a
href="http://raw.no/personal/blog/tech/Debian/2004-02-25-01-32_multiarch.html";>\
報告しました</a>。当然、#debian-devel チャネルでの多くの討論の原因となりましたが、
これは望むところです。もちろんコメントは大歓迎です。</p>
<p><strong>non-free に関する一般決議案</strong>。
Manoj Srivastava さんは、non-free セクションの今後の取扱いに関する投票の、
提案の草稿を<a

この問題に対する投票期間は、3 月 7 日から 21 日です。<a
href="$(HOME)/devel/join/">登録されている</a> Debian 開発者全員が、
二つの選択肢 (可決か否決) と「更なる議論」とに対してランク付けできます。Manoj
は意見を求めています。</p>
<p><strong>Firefox の商標問題</strong>。
Eric Dorland さんは、Firefox の公式なアイコンと名称にまつわる商標問題について<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0402/msg01877.html";>報告しました</a>。
André Dahlqvist さんは彼に、これらのアイコンや名称を使うことを上流は<a
href="http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=50876";>\
