<p>Welcome to this year's 34th issue of DWN, the weekly newsletter for the
Debian community.  J&ouml;rg Jaspert <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2006/08/msg00118.html";>\
announced</a> that the <a href="http://www.backports.org/";>backports</a>
archive also understands the tilde character in version strings and that
packages are set to <code>NotAutomatic</code> so that they shouldn't be
updated automatically anymore.  <a href="http://www.hp.com/";>HP</a> recently
<a href="http://www.linuxworld.com.au/index.php/id;311998848;fp;2;fpid;1";>\
announced</a> that they support Debian Linux on its ProLiant, BladeSystem
servers, and the new HP t5725 Thin Client server.</p>

<p>Debian コミュニティのための週刊ニュースレター、Debian ウィークリー
ニュースの今年の第 34 号へようこそ。J&ouml;rg Jaspert さんは、

<p><strong>Event Coordination in the German-speaking Area.</strong> Meike
Reichle <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-events-eu/2006/08/msg00019.html";>\
announced</a> a new Wiki <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEventsDe";>\
page</a> for coordinating public events in the German-speaking area such as
fairs, exhibitions and conferences in which the Debian projects participates.
This is one result of a <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2006/08/msg00031.html";>meeting</a>
of Debian event organisers last weekend.  Alexander Schmehl <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-events-eu/2006/08/msg00022.html";>added</a>
that the events <a href="$(HOME)/events/">section</a> on the Debian website
will be overhauled in the near future.</p>

<p><strong>ドイツ語圏地域でのイベント運営。</strong>
Meike Reichle さんは、ドイツ語圏地域で行なわれるフェアやエキシビジョン、
カンファレンスといった一般向けイベントに Debian プロジェクトが参加する際の
運営用 Wiki <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEventsDe";>\
ページ</a>を新たに用意したと<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-events-eu/2006/08/msg00019.html";>\
発表しました</a>。先週、Debian イベントの主催者が行なった<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2006/08/msg00031.html";>会議</a>の
結果があります。Alexander Schmehl さんは、Debian ウェブサイトのイベント
<a href="$(HOME)/events/">セクション</a>が近々オーバーホールされるだろうと<a

<p><strong>WNPP Bug Report Page.</strong> Hendrik Sattler <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/08/msg00236.html";>\
noticed</a> that the <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/wnpp";>page</a>
for Work-Needing and Prospective Packages (WNPP) in the <a
href="$(HOME)/Bugs/">bug tracking system</a> causes problems with Konqueror and
Firefox due to the sheer size of 3&nbsp;MB.  Ben Armstrong <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/08/msg00237.html";>\
reminded</a> the existence of light <a href="$(HOME)/devel/wnpp/">pages</a>
with direct links to the different WNPP packages sections.</p>

<p><strong>Review of Debian Development Tools.</strong>
As part of his research on Debian, Martin Krafft <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/07/msg01358.html";>\
asked</a> about the tools that have been successfully adopted
or those that have been rejected by the developers. Michael Banck <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/07/msg01360.html";>\
mentioned</a> <a href="http://packages.debian.org/unstable/devel/cdbs";>\
CDBS</a>, <a href="http://alioth.debian.org";>Alioth</a> and Debian's
<a href="http://svn.debian.org";>Subversion repository</a>, but <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/unstable/devel/debhelper";>Debhelper</a>,
patch management systems and distributed version control systems have
also been widely adopted. Debian Developers also appreciated <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/unstable/devel/devscripts";>\
devscripts</a> and package checkers like <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/unstable/devel/lintian";>lintian</a>,
<a href="http://packages.debian.org/unstable/devel/linda";>linda</a> and <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/unstable/devel/piuparts";>piuparts</a>.
