Hi, Torsten. Thank you for your work. I think the new release 6.53 should fix that bug (which makes all the characters in a line copied at first column of that line as well as the right place in vertical writing mode, so the first column is blacked and the character there can not be read), but I'll check it anyway, and I'll inform you if there were problem yet. In <handler.116516.D116516.101537687627014.notifdone@bugs.debian.org>, on "Tue, 05 Mar 2002 19:18:08 -0600", with "Bug#116516 acknowledged by developer(Bug#116516: fixed in gs 6.53-1)", owner@bugs.debian.org (Debian Bug Tracking System) wrote: owner> Torsten Landschoff <torsten@debian.org> (supplier of updated gs package) owner> gs (6.53-1) unstable; urgency=high owner> * Should fix the cjk stuff I hope (closes: #116516). You can check the problem (for ex, with gs 6.51-7) in a way: 1) install gsfonts-wadalab-{gothic,mincho} 2) do "/usr/sbin/gsfonts-wadalab-config install" 3) extract "article9.ps.gz" from (for ex) gs 5.10-10 in potato (it was in /usr/doc/gs/examples/) 4) inflate it to article9.ps, and show it by gs (" gs -DKANJI article9.ps") 5) check the first column in the vertical lines shown. There are all the chracters in that line at the same first column, as well as the right column for each char. After checking don't forget to do "/usr/sbin/gsfonts-wadalab-config remove" It is difficult to explain in text, so I wrote | http://www.sat.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/%7Ehideyuki/Ghostscript/| | | where article9-1.png is the correct result, but article9-2.png | has several overwritten spot near the beginng of the line. | (In vertical writing mode, the beginning of the line is | the top of the line.) in the original report. Have you seen those two pictures ? http://www.sat.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~hideyuki/Ghostscript/article9-1.png http://www.sat.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~hideyuki/Ghostscript/article9-2.png will show you the ploblem clearly, I think. For your convenience, I attach them with this mail. article9-1.png is correct, and article9-2.png is wrong. Thanks. -- Taketoshi Sano: <sano@debian.org>,<sano@debian.or.jp>,<kgh12351@xxxxxxxxxxx>
