訳の1行目、代案は出せませんが、すんなり意味が取れません。
2行目末「〜を返すなら、」
3行目「のような行が」「/etc/hosts ファイルにあるはずです。」

1行目のPASSWORDは訳するものだと思います。2行目はどっちでしょう?

2行目は強調する意味で順序を入れ換えたほうがよいかと思います。
「〜を使っている場合、このファイル中の〜記述してください。パスワードだけ
ではいけません!」
