きくたにです。

みなさまはDebian-1.2についているcontribの下のnetscapeって
使えてます？ 

CDROM(InfoMagicの6枚組です)のPackagesにはパッケージとしての
netscapeはないですね。でも.deb自体はあるのでやってみると

# dpkg -i /cdrom/contrib/binary-i386/netscape_3.01-2.deb
(Reading database ... 18047 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace netscape 3.01-2 (using .../netscape_3.01-2.deb) ...
- This release is for a different version of netscape than the one installed.
  Please 'dpkg --purge netscape netscape-beta' and reinstall this package.
  You will need the original 3.01 source archive from Netscape to do
  this.  Place the source archive in /tmp.
dpkg: error processing /cdrom/contrib/binary-i386/netscape_3.01-2.deb (--install):

となるので指示どおりすると

# dpkg --purge netscape netscape-beta
(Reading database ... 18047 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing netscape ...
dpkg - warning: ignoring request to remove netscape-beta which isn't installed.

こうなります。もういちどインストールしようとすると

# dpkg -i /cdrom/contrib/binary-i386/netscape_3.01-2.deb
Selecting previously deselected package netscape.
(Reading database ... 18039 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking netscape (from .../netscape_3.01-2.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of netscape:
 netscape depends on X11R6; however:
  Package X11R6 is not installed.
dpkg: error processing netscape (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:

となります。でも"X11R6"なんてパッケージはないですよね。

まあftpから持ってきて自分で入れればいいだけの話ではあるのですが。
