Discussion on the ML at Debian.or.jp

  * [jp-policy: 00058] [pod 00575] Call for participation

      + Fumitoshi UKAI, the Debian JP project leader, expressed the will to participate
        in the Linux L18N project group. For detail, please refer to the URL below.
        http://www.li18nux.org/

        http://www.debian.or.jp/Lists-Archives/jp-policy/199909/msg00005.html

  * [jp-policy: 00060] Re: Deficiencies in Debian

      + Taketoshi Sano posted the translation of the article by Martin Schulze in
        debian-devel@debian.org. <19990913032212.E21536@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>.
        And Akira YOSHIYAMA, the author of the boot-floppies-ja, pointed out fatal
        deficiencies in the current boot-floppies system. He said the current one was
        highly dependent on the Debian version and there's no flexibility against the
        change of the package configuration. The below is a part of the list.

          o boot-floppies does the configuration setup after the installation. It
            should be done in the framework of each package.
          o boot-floppies checks the package-selection's dependencies.
          o As it requires the base system, it strongly depends on the Debian version.
            Also, the size of Debian archive becomes large.

  * [jp-policy: 00061] Re: yup, we are dead ... NOT

      + Taketoshi Sano also worked for another information about
        debian-devel@debian.org. He translated the <
        19990913153021.D352@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> .

        http://www.debian.or.jp/Lists-Archives/jp-policy/199909/msg00008.html

  * [jp-policy: 00062] Re: Quality Assurance in Debian (Debian

      + Yet another Taketoshi Sano's work for information about
        debian-devel@debian.org. He translated the content of the following URL.
        http://tux.u-strasbg.fr/~raphael/qa/doc/qa.html/

        http://www.debian.or.jp/Lists-Archives/jp-policy/199909/msg00009.html

  * [debian-devel:10391] deb-fakeserv (Virtual apt server?)

      + Kiwamu Okabe posted the beta release of the virtual apt server. It communicates
        with the Debian installation method like apt. When it receives the package
        request from client, it creates the archive using dpkg-repack and send it, if
        the host has the package installed. It would be useful when you want to install
        Debian to your friends' machine. Please visit the below

  * [debian-users:17874] Visualized Release-critical Bugreport for Sep. 17, 1999

      + Ken Nakagaki posted the visualization of Release-critical Bugreport on Sep. 17,
        1999. It plots the transition of the number of the BUGs as well as the
        accumulated number of BUGs. Gzipped PS result is attached.

JP Merge Operation (continued)

  * [debian-devel:10399] Re: Deficiencies in Debian

      + Keita Maehara uploaded the task-japanese.ctl to Debian. Also he confirms the
        license of watanabe-vfont to the upstream author of the package.

        http://www.debian.or.jp/Lists-Archives/debian-devel/199909/msg00196.html

  * [debian-devel:10400] Namazu with gettext

      + Namazu ('catfish' in Japanese) is a search engine software intended for easy
        use. The upstream author of Namazu is thinking about the gettext extension. For
        further information about Namazu, please visit the below.

ITP to Debian JP

This section reports the JP member's ITP to Debian JP. Non-Debian developer of Debian
JP member has no way to ITP to Debian.

  * [debian-devel:10384] Intent to package: gtkdiff
    Masayuki Hatta ITPed diff front-end using GTK+/GNOME. It can treat Japanese
    correctly and has good looking interface.
