せっかくなので、いろいろ試してみました。

上記のメッセージが表示されるのは、CDブートした直後で、
「Welcome to Debian GNU/Linux 3.0!」
のスクリーンが表示されるよりも前です。

１，２，３，４をそれぞれ選択した時に、
「Welcome to Debian GNU/Linux 3.0!」のスクリーンで、
kernelのバージョンは以下のように表示されています。

1: This disk uses the Linux kernel 2.2.20
2: This disk uses the Linux kernel 2.2.20-compact
3: This disk uses the Linux kernel 2.4.18-bf2.4
4: This disk uses the Linux kernel 2.2.20-idepci

1 を選択して、2.2.20 のスクリーンの状態で、

3 を選択して、2.4.18 のスクリーンの状態で、

boot: bf24
Could not find kernel image: bf24

boot: bf2.4
Could not find kernel image: bf2.4
