<p><strong>Switching to GCJ 4.1.</strong> Michael Koch <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/05/msg00008.html";>\
announced</a> that the Debian Java Team plans to switch the default version of
gcj/gij to point to the version 4.1. Most packages should only require a
simple rebuild. Packages building a native JNI library will need some manual
action, though.</p>
<p><strong>GCJ 4.1 への切り替え。</strong>
Michael Koch さんの<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/05/msg00008.html";>\
発表</a>によれば、Debian Java チームは、gcj や gij
のデフォルトのバージョンを切り替えてバージョン 4.1 を指すようにする予定です。
大半のパッケージに必要になるのは単純な再構築だけのはずです。
しかし、ネイティブの JNI
ライブラリを構築するパッケージには何らかの手作業が必要となるでしょう。</p>
<p><strong>Packaging non-free Documentation.</strong> Jérôme Marant <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg01061.html";>wondered</a>
how maintainers deal with original source packages that contain documentation
released under the <a href="http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html";>GNU FDL</a>
when they would like to package the documentation for <code>non-free</code>.
Manoj Srivastava <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg01063.html";>reported</a>
that he has created two distinct source packages containing either the code or
the non-free documentation. The non-free source package <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg01072.html";>needs</a> to
be renamed.</p>
<p><strong>non-free なドキュメントのパッケージ化。</strong>

<p><strong>Maintaining patch-based Source Packages.</strong> Joey Schulze <a
href="http://www.infodrom.org/~joey/log/?200604291154";>asked</a> maintainers
of patch-based build systems to use a sane name for patches so that new ones
can easily be added at the end of the pile especially when they are applied in
lexicographic and not sorted by an index file. This will help prevent kludges
when preparing security updates.</p>

The Debian Project is currently holding its annual <a
href="$(HOME)/events/2006/0514-debconf">Conference</a> at
Oaxtepec, Mexico. About 400 developers, translators and people interested
in the project have been participating in more than 50 <a
href="http://wiki.debian.org/Debconf6TalkSchedule";>talks and
BoFs</a>. You may follow the Conference in the organising team's
<a href="http://debconf6.debconf.org/blog/";>blog</a>. Live streams of
the <a href="http://video.debconf.org:8000/tower.ogg";>talks</a> and the
<a href="http://video.debconf.org:8000/hacklab.ogg";>hacklab</a> are also
