なんか groff の upstream がおんなじ意見を書いてましたね :)
これについては既にちゃんとわかってもらえてるらしい。安心しました。

なんてのがあります。ここまでわかってて、なんで groff に BTS report しないで
sgml-tools に report するかなぁ、とか思ったりもしたんですが。

| Sorry, it was not exactly groff man page: look in the groff package
| doc directory, file meref.me.gz.

| A quick grep revealed that `.nh' should do the trick.
結局この報告者は「.nh で disable hyphenation しろ」が言いたかったのかな、
と言いたかったのかな。で、いまだにこの bug には対応してなかったり ^^;;
「英語用のルール」は /usr/share/groff/tmac/hyphen.us のことですね。
これの冒頭には
% Hyphenation patterns for US English.
% These are the standard Plain TeX hyphenation patterns (in hyphen.tex).
と書いてあったり。
で、 locate hyphen.tex すると
/usr/share/texmf/tex/csplain/czhyphen.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/csplain/skhyphen.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/czhyphen.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/dkhyphen.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/hyphen.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/mnhyphen.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/rohyphen.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/skhyphen.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/ukhyphen.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/ruhyphen/ruhyphen.tex
とか、いろいろあるみたいですね。
いや、 ls /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen すると
もっとたくさんあるのか、、、
LaTeX のライセンスって GPL と互換なんでしたっけ ?
tetex は GPL 2 と書いてあるな、、、これならそのまま
もらってくればいいのか ?
でも plain tex の hyphen.tex には
% The Plain TeX hyphenation tables [NOT TO BE CHANGED IN ANY WAY!]
とか書いてあるのに、groff の hyphen.us はこれをそのまま使ってる
みたいだし、いいのかな。
