よくわからない、うまく訳せない文章には ^^^^^^^
をつけています。
まずは 1.2 です。

でびあんとは何か、どのように構築されているのか、
そのような方法を使うのはなぜかというようにでも訳すのでしょうか？
どうもうまい訳が思い付きません。
debiandoc-sgml です。ついでに訳してみましたが
もしかしたらすでにこの部分の
訳があるのかも知れません(^^;;;;
ちょっと時間がなくて探していませんが。
Each format converter debiandoc2foo places its output in
basename.foo where basename is source with any leading
directory components and any trailing .sgml removed.
この文のany leading directory componets が良く分かりません。

These are also available in SGML form. This is the
original from which all other forms are generated.
Besides html and text also PostScript and lout
formats are supported. <kbd>lout</kbd> is a text
processing package, similar to Tex in concept, but
smaller.
