ここなんですが、
「そして、前例のない事ですが、」
ぐらいじゃないでしょうか。

つまり、授賞式でリリースアナウンスを行った団体(人)はいまだかつてない、
あるいはDebianのリリースアナウンスがメーリングリストやWeb以外に
先駆けて行われたことがない、ということのどっちか(あるいは両方)と
いうふうに読んだんですが、どうでしょうか？

あと、これは細いことですが、
