「次に」？ この then は，"chroot環境においては" という意味じゃないかなあ．

通常の起動スクリプトは chroot jail の root にある start.sh というス
クリプトを呼び出してデーモンを起動させます。

ここの may は，「してもかまわない」と訳したほうがいいような気がしま
す．

つまり、パッケージのアップグレードの際には、これらを安全に削除しても
かまいません。

・「…することを避ける」は和訳調なので，変更
・ old ではなく outdated なので，「時代遅れ」的ニュアンスを出したい

そのため、古くなったモジュールを使えないように削除するのがお勧めです。
