宇野です。
potatoのnetscape-base-ja-4-1.2にて修正しました。
glibc2.1に大きく依存しているため、今のところpotatoのみと対応と
させて頂きます。

Communicatorを使っていて、入力フィールドがあるとすると、ここにデフォル
トの値が入っていても表示されません。具体的には、

こういったファイルを読み込むと、本当は FIELD01 の後の入力欄には boo01、
FIELD02の後の入力欄には ***** と表示されてほしいのですが、そうなりませ
ん。
$ communicator とすると、英語モードの communicator が立ち上がるようで
すが、これでやると、所望の動作をします。しかし、$ jcommunicator として
起動した日本語モードの communicator では、FIELD01の後は空欄で、
FIELD02 の後も空欄、または、よくわからないのですが、場合によってはこち
らの方は表示されてしまったりします。
当然ながら、
/usr/lib/netscape/45/communicator-ja/communicator-ja-smotif 中の
LANG、LC_CTYPE の設定をやめれば、入力欄の表示の動作は正しくなりますの
で、問題は communictor ではなく、locale の方にあるのかもしれませんが、
現象としては communicator でおきていますので、こちらに報告しておきます。
環境は、slink + slink-jp (1999/04/04にftpしたもの) で、1.3.1 => 2.0 =>
2.1 と upgrade してきましたが、slink になってから、こういう現象が生じ
ています。
