デンにある Umeaa 大学[3]のアカデミックコンピュータクラブ[4]が、マシン
クラスタと HTTP リダイレクトによって 2 Gbit/s ものインターネット帯域幅
を利用可能にした方法の詳細[5]を公開しました。大規模なフリーソフトウェ
アプロジェクトの新規リリースが行なわれると、多くの人々がそれをすぐ手に
入れたがるのが常です。Ubuntu のリリースに続いて行なわれた Debian Sarge
のリリースも、例外ではありませんでした。

Message-ID を用いたメーリングリストのメールの検索。Jeroen van
Wolffelaar さんは、Message-ID を用いたメーリングリストのメールの検索機
能[6]を lists.debian.org[7] に再実装した、と発表しました[8]。このサー
ビスは Andrew Suffield さんのアイデア[9]に基づいていますが、彼はそれを
最近中止した[10]ばかりでした。この機能では、単一の ID に対する複数の検
索結果の表示もサポートされています。

パッケージ向けの商標ポリシー? Simon Josefsson さんは、ドキュメントやパッ
ケージ説明文で用いられる用語について、商標に関するポリシーが Debian に
あるか尋ね[11]、Debian が関係している場合に要求することが有益であるよ
うな、特別な許諾条項があるかどうか知りたいと思いました。Florian Weimer
さんは、商標問題が派生物の作成や配布を妨げたり相互運用のための実装の変
更を妨げたりしない限り、商標について Debian はノータッチだと説明しまし
た[12]。

iBook G4 での無線の使用。Jorge Ortiz さんは、Debian では PowerPC アー
キテクチャ向けに iBook G4 の無線システムが完全にサポートされるようになっ
た、と報告しました[13]。彼は、カーネルバージョン 2.6.15-rc5 以降と
bcm43xxx[14] ドライバがともに必要になると指摘しました。この AirMac
Extreme (原文では AirPort Extreme) カードはこんなに早くサポートされる
と思われていませんでした。
