荒木です。

先ほど送付したメールに文字化けが起こってしまったようですので、表題の翻訳を
再送します。失礼いたしました。

文字化けの原因の詳細は定かではありませんが、何通かテストしてみますと、
どうも文中にある latin-1 文字を Gmail が自動判別して何故か中国語の文字セット
GB2312 に設定されていたようです。以後、文字化けが起きないよう留意します。

以下は、当翻訳に関するコメントです。

* 最終文の Testing with は、「...で (を使用して) テストすること」か「...を
持ったテスト版 (testing)」かで迷ったのですが、最終的には前者で訳しました。

* 最終文の would の訳出が不十分かも知れません。


wxwidgets2.8 upload to unstable

Adeodato Simó recently uploaded wxwidgets2.8[3] to unstable. This is a
long requested update, but package maintainers are encouraged to be
conservative about using it: Only packages that don't work with
wxwidgets2.6[4] should use the new version, stability and new bug issues
are expected to happen when switching too fast. This is also the reason
behind the decision to keep wxwindows2.6 as default for Lenny[5]. Testing
with the new widgetset for such applications that still would work with
wxwindows2.6 should happen in private or experimental before decisions
are done.

不安定版 (unstable) への wxwidgets2.8 のアップロード

最近、Adeodato Simó が [wxwidgets2.8][3] を不安定版 (unstable) にアップ
ロード
しました。これは長い間求められていた更新ですが、パッケージ開発者はその使用を
控えることが推奨されています。というのは、[wxwidgets2.6][4] で動作しない
パッケージのみがこの新しいバージョンを使用するべきであり、切替が早過ぎた場合
に安定性と新しいバグに関する問題が発生することが想定されるからです。このこと
は、[Lenny][5] のデフォルトとして wxwindows2.6 を維持するという決定の背景に
ある理由でもあります。まだ wxwindows2.6 で動作するアプリケーションに対して
新しい widgetset を使用したテストが非公式に、もしくは実験的に実現してから、
様々な判断をするべきです。
