きが意味をとりにくかったので，僕ならこうします．

MySQL のポート番号が標準の 3306 でない場合は、host名:port番号 という形
式で指定できます。

MySQL サーバとして localhost が指定されましたが，localhost にはサーバ
がインストールされていません．

次．
Either install mysql-server package
       or
       run dpkg-reconfigure mydns in order to change the MySQL server.
なのではないかしら．in order to change …は文全体じゃなくて，後の句に
かかると取りました．

mysql-server パッケージをインストールするか，
MySQL サーバに変更するために dpkg-reconfigure mydns を実行してください．
