最近の debian-boot ML でのメールを拾ってみると

 1) Subject: Re: FW: help with DPT I2O SmartRAID V support

 | Did you try the ones at http://people.debian.org/~aph/ ? The current
 | bf has a known problem in that /dev/ida devices are not provided.

 2) Subject: Re: Boot problem with Penguin Relion

 |
 | Err, unless there's something special/different about the 2nd CD, that
 | won't help. It's basically the kernel MegaRAID bug; the only solution
 | AFAIK is to boot using an older (<= 2.2.14) or newer (>= 2.2.19preX)
 | kernel[1].

 | [1] At least those are the versions boundaries we've used that worked;
 | I don't recall exactly when the bug was introduced or when it was
 | fixed. The latter at least is probably easy to determine from Alan's
 | changelogs, if necessary.

 |
 | Eh? I'm confused. The version of the boot-floppies at
 | http://people.debian.org/~aph/current is 2.2.18pre21.
 |
 | You are saying that you tried the 'compact' kernel and that it didnt'
 | work because that kernel doesn't have the adaptec patch you need?
 | That may have been fixed in 2.2.19pre11-1, but I show that only
 | affects aic7xxx chipsets.
 |
 | Have you tried the new 2.2.19pre17-1 kernel image package from
 | potato-proposed-updates? Does that fix it?
 |
 | If not, please file a bug against kernel-source-2.2.19pre17 .

 |
 | Nope.

などのメールがあったようです。

 1) /dev/ida device file の有無 (これは関係無いかな ?)

 2, 3) カーネルのバグ (2.2.14 以前または 2.2.19preX 以降を使うこと)

あたりをチェック、でしょうか。
